Sponsor a Sanctuary Bunny!

The Bunny Burrow works with area shelters to rescue rabbits in need, many of which have urgent medical needs. In most cases, we are able to get these rabbits the medical care that they need to be healthy and ready for their forever homes. But sometimes the rabbits we receive have varying medical needs that will never fully resolve, however they still have a great quality of life with the experienced, and often very intensive care of our volunteers with ongoing medications and supportive care.

The bunnies featured on this page are not adoptable to the public as they each have special medical needs for the remainder of their lives. We at the Bunny Burrow are giving them the best lives they deserve with the extra care that they require as sanctuary rabbits.

We are looking for generous sponsors of their ongoing care which includes: medications & medical supplies, fresh greens, pellets, litter and bedding. A small sponsorship of just $25.00 would help feed & house one of these bunnies for a month!

Sponsorships can be made via PayPal on our Donate link or sending us a Venmo payment to @bunnyburrowrr
Make sure you let us know who you want to sponsor in the notes!

Toki (Rabbit in Korean) has a severe head tilt left from E. Cuniculi. He received extensive medication for E.C. and lots of activities that require him to practice his balance and stay upright- Bunny P.T. as we call it. He is finally able to walk and give some sassy foot flicks, but will always require extreme diligence for cleanliness as he cannot use a litter box. He doesn't require a support bed to stay upright anymore, but still needs help here and there. He just encourages his foster human to look at the world from a different angle sometimes.

Samantha is a Holland Lop with a deformed jaw. Her lower jaw sticks out past her nose. Her teeth were so misaligned, they curled inwards and poked her in the cheeks causing infection when she was surrendered to an area shelter. Samantha can eat hay (and she loves her hay!) and pellets without assistance, but for her favorite snacks such as banana and craisins, she needs help keeping those snacks in her mouth while she chews. Her little tongue is always out. She lives with Biscuit making a mess and running around non stop, but her first love was Gumbo- they were an instant bond, and she took his passing very hard, just like her foster human did.

Macaroon earned her guardian angel wings on December 4, 2023. Macaroon was found abandoned near an area shelter covered in some sort of oil and loaded with mites and ear infection. We thought the infection was resolved, but it kept coming back. She was left with substantial scar tissue as well as some nerve damage. Macaroon lives with a foster, and was bonded with a her friend Fezzik, and now shares her life with Jax. Her favorite leisure activity is digging out her litter box and dragging the mess all over the room.

Rory earned his Guardian Angel status on August 17, 2021. Rory came to the rescue as a surrender following an injury that resulted in a previous hind leg amputation, which was complicated by some undiscovered nerve damage that left him unable to urinate on his own. The result of that was that his bladder became so full, it would just leak onto his skin, resulting in a severe urine scald. Once his foster human figured out that he could not potty on his own, she quickly got him on a schedule of potty breaks, expressing his bladder right into the toilet. His skin quickly healed and Rory was officially on the go. He was the cleanest bunny ever! His foster human's life revolved around his pee schedule, and there was not a place that Rory didn't sneak into, hiding in his human's tote bags... he never chewed on anything other than his toys and snacks. He went every where from the grocery store, to Target runs, and even coffee shops surprising people when his little ears were spotted sticking out of the bag. Rory never met a stranger, and enjoyed ear scratches and hopping around inspecting the rescue facility every weekend. His passing was very hard on everyone that knew him, and his memory continues to inspire his foster human to care for the differently abled bunnies that need a little extra help.

Pierre earned his guardian angel wings in November of 2024. Pierre was and is very loved by his foster family, and is missed by his companion, Toulouse. Pierre has massive dental issues that he had when he came to us from an area shelter after being on the urgent list with his buddy, Toulouse. Pierre lives with a foster receiving Penicillin shots every other day for the rest of his life. His dental abscesses are not expected to resolve, and he is being given all of the love and craisins he wants and deserves.

Zinne earned her guardian angel wings in November of 2024 after almost 2 years (we expected less than 6 months) in fospice care, and one INCREDIBLE surgery. Zinne was and is very loved by everyone who cared looked after her in her golden years with us. Zinnia came back to us in 2023 after being in a home for over 6 years. Zinnia was left on our desk in a laundry basket by her former home in rough shape. After clipping her nails and giving her some much needed love, we discovered zinnia had a massive abdominal tumor growing in her groin. Our vets initially did not want to operate because the area would have been too large to attempt to close up, plus this surgery is very hard on an elderly girl. Fast forward 1 year on Halloween, 2023, she had the baseball sized tumor removed. It had developed in such a way that the base was small enough to close with 27 staples. Our excellent surgeon removed the mass after confirming no metastasis. We were all nervous, but Zinnia made a miraculous recovery and enjoys her golden age in her fospice home being the center of attention. She is slowly losing mobility, but she lives a good live on special bedding with hygienic haircuts. She still gets zooming and enjoys her snuggle time. Zinnia is a miracle girl!

Biscuit is a very differently abled bunny. He came to the burrow at barely 6 weeks old with a compound fracture of his rear leg. His leg was amputated, but his remaining 3 legs are severely splayed. Biscuit can still zoom and tumble around the pen, and do ridiculous binkies once he gets going. He uses a ramp to get in and out of the litter box, but prefers to potty on the vet fleece anyway. Biscuit lives with Samantha (His first best friend was Gumbo) and rules the pen with the ferocity of a little lion (He is a lion head mix after all!)

Gumbo earned his Guardian Angel status on March 24, 2023 and is watching over all of the burrow bunnies from bunny heaven. Everyone who's life he touched misses him deeply. Gumbo came to us emaciated weighing in at just 7oz, covered in bites from another rabbit, severely over grown teeth & abscesses behind his eye which was not expected to ever fully resolve. Gumbo went into shock when he first came to us in 2021, and then decided that he was NOT ready to leave us that day or year. He was fed with a teaspoon through his teeth around the clock, kept warm and hydrated, and ended up weighing in at just over 3 pounds. He never met a stranger, and LOVED his girlfriend Samantha. Gumbo required penicillin shots every other day to maintain his abscesses but he lived his best life, making lots of cameos on zoom while his foster was working and even sent a few emails of his own.
